I’M BACK! Sorry, I’ve been working on a blog I have on another account. The blog’s at thisisme-whoareyou.blogspot.com in case you’re interested. Now, for the manga review:
Plot[From Mangareader.net]
This world consists of two dimensions joined as one, like a mirror. The first is the world in which the humans live, Assiah. The other is the world of demons, Gehenna. Ordinarily, travel between the two, and indeed any kind of contact between the two, is impossible. However the demons can pass over into this world by possessing anything that exists within it. Satan is the god of demons, but there\'s one thing that he doesn\'t have and that\'s a container in the human world that is powerful enough to hold him!! For that purpose, he created Rin, his son from a human woman, but will his son agree to his plans, or will he become something else...? An exorcist?
Ao no Exorcist is a fantastic manga that I started reading. I love it and really find myself enjoying it. I doubt there’s a section of the manga that I will dislike. I mean, I love how Rin is slowly winning everyone back after they learned that he was a demon. I have the admit that the terms they use for the land of humans and the land of the demons are hard to keep track of. They never really talk about them. At the point that I’m at, it’s hard to really remember that. I’m lucky I can remember some of the names. I’ll point out which names I can remember as I’m reviewing the characters.
Now, in terms of the manga’s drawing style, I like it. I think everything is easy to understand when you see it. The only confusing thing I saw was his tail. At first, I didn’t have the slightest idea what it was. Then, after a few pages, I realized what it was. That was literally the only problem.
The story itself is nice so far. I have no complaints to it. It’s easy to understand when it’s a flashback and, even though the beginning is a little slow, it was able to make me come close to tears.
Now, for character reviews.
Rin Okumura |
Rin Okumura is what I like to call "an idiot." He reminds me of Naruto Uzumaki(from the popular "Naruto" anime and manga series) in the way that, while he is an idiot, he has a good heart and makes good points. I really love Rin and totally love how he doesn't see anything wrong with him being a demon. Sure, it shocks him at first, but he accepts it and decides that he wants to defeat Satan. And I loved how he totally acted how I expected him to when Bon exploded on his father and said he hated him. I mean, considering what happened to Fujimoto when he did...
Anyway, I LOVE Rin! That's it. Period, end of discussion.
Yukio Okumura |
Yukio is a nice guy. If you were to compare me and my younger sister(364-day younger sister) you would see that I'm more like Yukio. I think my way through, act mature, and hate breaking the rules. My sister is my opposite, like Yukio is to Rin(though Rin is Yukio's twin). I like that, while Rin has all the demon powers, Yukio seems to be just a human with a knack for being an exoricst. It adds to their opposite-ness(is that a word?)
Anyway, I love Yukio almost just as much as I love Rin. That's the main point. I have to admit that I love Rin just a bit more.
Shiemi Moriyama |
Izumo "Eyebrows" Kamiki |
Ryuki "Bon" Suguro |
Renzo Shima |
I like Shima. Especially how he decides to do whatever seems the less troublesome. When he tries to avoid Rin after learning he was a demon, thinking it would be more troublesome than accepting him, and then realizes that it's way more troublesome than just being Rin's friend, I laughed with how silly it was. And then, the next morning, when Rin had a hangover but he talked about how he made the right choice by not drinking, I laughed even more. Shima's a funny guy. That's all there is to it. But I really love him, like I do most of the characters here!
Konekomaru Miwa |
Shura Kirigakure |
Those are my only annoyances towards her. Otherwise, I guess she isn't that bad. Just remove the flaws I listed.
